"Being Antigone"

Three women from Ancient Greece, Communist Romania, and an American University in the 1960s are on a timeless and borderless search for justice. A quite, sensitive tension resonates as the piece explores how woman navigate between intimate space and political action.

 

A three channel video-scape reframes the theatrical stage, expanding the live performance with a virtual stream of artistic visions which feature footage from the Romanian Revolution of 1989.

 

Amy Munz performs on stage as three characters connected in a common struggle fought by woman throughout time, whether it be for life, death, or peace in everyday life. Rebecca Ruttle sings powerful songs to mark important milestones in the journey of these women. Song, performance, and video make for a powerful piece devoted to the feminist stance.
